PILOT SAFE AFTER EMERGENCY LANDING - DECEMBER, 10, 2009
Thursday, 10 December 2009 17:09

On December 10, 2009 at approximately 3:00 PM 18 year old Marcus Burr crash landed his airplane just outside of Delta, Utah.  Burr is an aviation student at Utah Valley University.  Burr was flying back to Provo from Cedar City.  He was attempting to do a “touch and go” maneuver at the Delta airport.  Approximately 1 mile off the runway the aircraft engine died.  Burr tried to restart the engine but was unsuccessful.  He observed an open field south of the runway and glided the aircraft into a landing.  The aircraft came to a stop after running into an old irrigation ditch.  There was minimal damage to the aircraft and no injuries were reported by the pilot.  Further investigation will be handled through the FAA.
