On July 6, 2010 at approximately 5 pm, the Millard County Sheriff’s Office was advised of some old explosives found in an outbuilding near an Oak City residence. A former resident of the home was known to use explosives in mining operations in the Oak Creek area. Deputies arrived and confirmed at least one stick of dynamite apparently left by a former owner of the home in a shed behind the residence.
The Utah Statewide Bomb Squad Task Force was contacted to assist in the removal and destruction of the explosives. On July 7, 2010 several outbuildings were searched for explosive materials. Three sticks of dynamite and several containers of blasting caps were safely removed from the shed and transported out of Oak City, where they were disposed of by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad.

| Do not store valuables in your car, even in the trunk. Please lock your car and take your keys with you. Even though it is tempting to run your vehicle in the cold mornings, an unattended vehicle is an open invitation to a thief. |
