LOST HIKER FOUND BETWEEN FILLMORE AND HOLDEN - MARCH 12, 2013
Tuesday, 12 March 2013 15:57

On Monday March 11, 2013 at 7:15 P.M. the Millard County Sheriffs Office was summoned to assist in locating a missing hiker. Kenyon Kirk from Santaquin, Utah called the Millard County Sheriffs Office and asked for assistance locating his mother, 56 year old Debbie Kirk also from Santaquin. Kenyon and Debbie Kirk had been hiking in the Maple Hollow area near Holden where they became separated. Kenyon was able to return to their vehicle, but Debbie became lost and was able to speak to her son with her cellular telephone.

Members of the Millard County Sheriffs Office and the East Millard Sheriffs Posse were able to obtain GPS Coordinates from Debbie's cellular telephone.  Due to heavy snow, snowmobiles and a snow cat were utilized to locate Debbie and assist her off of the mountain at about 12:45 A.M. Debbie was located approximately 3 miles south of Holden between Holden and Fillmore. During the search Debbie was able to start a fire for warmth and assist with search efforts.  After Debbie was transported off the mountain, she was evaluated and released by medical personnel.
