SCAM WARNING - JANUARY 6, 2014
Monday, 06 January 2014 15:54

Sheriff Robert A. Dekker would like to remind the citizens of Millard County to be mindful and cautious when receiving suspicious phone calls especially when the caller is asking for personal information.  Most of these scam phone calls come from fictitious phone numbers.  Some of the scammers claim to be from credit card departments, banks or other financial institutions claiming there is a problem with your account and asking you to verify information they should already have on file.  Other scammers claim to be family members who are in other countries and are in some type of distress and need money wired to them.

Please be very careful when giving any information out over the phone, especially if you can not verify the identity of the person on the other end.

Safe Tip

It's a crime to threaten or hit another person. If you are the victim of domestic violence, you have the right to protect yourself and to expect help from others. Don't stay in your home. Go to a friend, neighbor, or relative. Contact us immediately to report the incident. Temporary shelter is available for domestic abuse persons and their children.
