It's a crime to threaten or hit another person. If you are the victim of domestic violence, you have the right to protect yourself and to expect help from others. Don't stay in your home. Go to a friend, neighbor, or relative. Contact us immediately to report the incident. Temporary shelter is available for domestic abuse persons and their children.

Do not store valuables in your car, even in the trunk. Please lock your car and take your keys with you. Even though it is tempting to run your vehicle in the cold mornings, an unattended vehicle is an open invitation to a thief.

Safe Tip

Hang up immediately on obscene callers or strangers who ask questions regarding private matters. Many such callers are merely seeking an emotional response and will discontinue their harassment if you avoid a reaction of fear or anger. Chronic harassing phone calls should be reported to the Sheriff's Office.
