JOSIE GREATHOUSE FOX - JANUARY 5, 2010
Tuesday, 02 February 2010 14:57

Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox, age 37, was killed in the line of duty on January 5, 2010 in Delta, Utah.  Josie was born September 17, 1972 in Delta to Russell and Cindy Greathouse.  Josie was our bright and shining star.  We will cherish our short time with her.  Our memories of her will always put a smile on our faces.  When she walked in the room "the party started."

Josie grew up on a farm in Lynndyl which she loved.  Her favorite job on the farm was working the cattle.  She married Jeff Winn.  They later divorced.  In September of 2004 Josie was hired by the Millard County Sheriff’s Office making her childhood dream come true.   She completed the
Utah Police Academy in 2005.  In a photo of her graduation you can see Josie smiling and giving the “thumb up” sign.  She loved her job and gave it her all.  She served many assignments at the Sheriff’s Office but her favorite was anything to do with the youth.  Josie had a special talent of working with the young people of the county.  This was very evident the evening following her death.  The youth of community organized, attended and spoke at a special candle light vigil in her honor.  Many attended her viewing and her funeral.

On January 18, 2007, Josie married Doug Brian Fox, who she often introduced as "the perfect man."

Josie is survived by her husband: Doug; son: Spencer; daughter: Hunter, of Delta; step-children: Brian Fox; Katrina Fox,
Grand Junction; parents: Russell & Cindy Greathouse, Lynndyl; brother: Ryan Greathouse. Leamington; sister: Sandi Greathouse Ables, Delta; brother: Fred (Chasie) Greathouse, Delta; grandmother: Betty Carter, Delta; nieces & nephews that adored "Aunt Jo Jo." Parents-in-law: Deroy & Evelyn Fox, Mesquite, NV; brother-in-law: Rod (Lynette) Fox, McClusky, ND; sister-in-law: Debbie (Lance) Johnson, Cedar City.
